The new Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR), introduced in April 2007, has now replaced the Childcare Approval Scheme.  The OCR is a voluntary scheme which can provide you with tax benefits.  To take advantage of the tax credits or employer supported childcare vouchers you must use a nanny who is registered.

A nanny is required by law to have a contract of employment.  It also helps avoid any misunderstandings from either party at a later date.  We can supply you with a draft contract once interviews have been arranged.

Nanny shares are becoming increasingly common as an ideal solution for 2 or more families living in close proximity of each other.  The nanny can be based from one home or alternate their time from one to another.  As well as shared costs, it also gives your child/children additional social interaction.

When it comes to driving responsibilities a nanny may use their own car or you may choose to provide a car for their use.  If the nanny is using their own car it is very important that the vehicle is covered by business insurance.  Your nanny will also need to be compensated for petrol costs and wear and tear.  This can be done with a pence per mile rate which will be written into the employment contract.  It is your joint responsibility to ensure that the car is road worthy and the correct child seats are fitted.  

As previously mentioned we ask all our candidates to have paediatric first aid training.  We have links with local training centres and can also carry out CRB checks if necessary.
